Jim Skogsbergh,
48, is president and chief executive officer
of Advocate Health Care, the largest fully
integrated faith-based health care delivery
system in metropolitan Chicago and a system
recognized as one of the top in the country,
3 billion dollars in revenue, 25,000
associates and approximately 150 sites of
care throughout Chicagoland. Before joining
Advocate as chief operating officer in
January of 2001, Skogsbergh served as
executive vice president of the Iowa Health
System in Des Moines, as well as the
president and chief executive officer of
Iowa Methodist, Iowa Lutheran and Blank
Children’s hospitals. He began his 25 years
of health care experience in 1982 as an
administrative resident with Memorial Health
System of South Bend, Indiana.
Today,
Skogsbergh is a Fellow with the American
College of Healthcare Executives, serves on
the board of the Metropolitan Chicago
Healthcare Council and is President –Elect
and Executive Committee Member of the
Illinois Hospital Association’s Advocacy
Council among other organizations. He also
serves on Mayor Richard Daley’s World
Business Chicago, Board of Directors and has
chaired the American Heart Association’s
Heart Ball Gala, as well as recently serving
as co-chair of the American Cancer Society’s
CEO’s Against Cancer Campaign, a member of
Chicago United and Young President’s
Organization (YPO).
After earning
his Baccalaureate Degree from Iowa State
University in 1980, he went on to earn his
Masters and Doctorate from the University of
Iowa where he still serves as an adjunct
lecturer. |
